Thanksgiving Weekend

On Wednesday afternoon, we left for Las Vegas. We haven't taken Oliver on a trip that long since he was about 4 months old. I was worried, since he is so much more active now. The first few hours were okay, but he started to get cranky when he couldn't fall asleep. We figured out that putting Jan's jacket to tilt the carseat back (which was okay by the carseat manufacturers) helped him be comfortable enough to fall asleep.

On Thursday, we had Thanksgiving dinner at Jan's cousin Jennifer's house. It was delicious. Oliver especially liked the sweet potatoes.

I made my first Thanksgiving turkey later that night. I had already been preparing it before we found out that we were going to eat at Jennifer's, so we only ate a few pieces that night. It was great! I will definitely have to use that recipe in the future.

On Friday, we lounged around the house most of the day, but then we went around the District at Green Valley Ranch. Oliver had fun at the playground and absolutely loved going down the slide himself.

After the playground, we had dinner at Claim Jumper with Leni, Julian, and Amy.

On Saturday, we decided to bring Oliver to the mall to ride on the train. He had a blast!

Later that night, we brought him to see the Christmas lights at the Ethel M. Chocolates Factory. He got to take a picture with an M&M and Santa Claus! Of course Santa had to bribe Oliver with M&Ms in order to have Oliver sit on his lap :)

And thanks to Leni and Lito, we got to go to see Catching Fire at the theaters later that night. It was aaa-MAAAZZZ-ing!

On Sunday, we packed our things and headed back home. We were all sad to go.
