Lots of Exciting Things!

I love having a change in pace! June has been full of things that have given us some variety to our normal boring schedule.

Birthday cupcakes!
My birthday was this month, so Jan-Michael and I took off work. It was soooo nice! We got to sleep in, hang out, relax, and enjoy the day. It kind of confused us both, because we kept thinking it was Saturday. I bought myself some nice shorts and a skirt from Old Navy (I haven't shopped there in years!). We went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch and then had Red Robin with some friends for dinner. After dinner, we had a little party. We played the candy bag game. It is a family favorite, but most of my friends had never played it before. We also smashed the pinata. It was a lot of fun.

The next day, Jan-Michael and I went to the Springville Fair. They had a deal where each ride only cost one ticket. It was so busy that all of the lines were really long. We only ended up going on four rides, which were the ones with the shortest lines. The first one was a spinning one, which I don't normally mind. Let's just say, I did NOT enjoy it. We also went on the big slide and the carousal twice. We wanted to go on a few others, but the lines were ridiculously long. We gave our extra tickets to a random family. After that, we treated ourselves to delicious fair food (I got my fried dough, though it wasn't the same without powdered sugar)!

Eating at a Filipino restaurant
This past Thursday, we flew to San Francisco for Jan's family reunion. We had standby tickets, but it worked out pretty well. We got there late Thursday night, and we slept at his uncle's house. On Friday, we went around San Francisco, since I have never been in that area before. It was a little bit chilly at Fisherman's Wharf. On Saturday was the reunion. I helped set up for it, while Jan went on errands for food, etc. I knew most of the people there, since I went to his family reunion last year. It was a lot of fun! Jan's cousins' kids liked me :) One was a little boy who kept staring at me, and he would come right to me whenever I held out my hands for him to come to me. Every time he saw me, he would stare and say "Hi." I also played pass with him with a little football. He's really a smart little boy. The other was a 4-year-old girl. I helped her find a bandaid for her boo-boo. She also showed me all the different things she was playing with throughout the day, and she would just randomly come and sit on my lap. I got exposed to new Filipino food, too. No offense to my husband or his family, but I only liked a few things.

Lastly, we just found out this Monday that our application for the apartment we want was accepted! We are going to meet up with the owner on Friday to sign a contract. It's an older building, but the interior has been renovated. You can check out some pictures at www.thethomasproperties.com. Now we just need to make sure that we will have all the furniture that we need! We already have a couch set, dining set, and washer/dryer! I'm so excited! I can't wait!

This coming weekend, we will be driving down to Las Vegas to see Jan's brother, Julian, come home from his mission. So, like I said, you can tell how June is so much more exciting!
