Oliver has been doing really well in the NICU. Once my milk started to come in, he started to feed really well. He takes anywhere from 32-40 ml during our feeding sessions and usually around 50 ml of my pumped breast milk during other feeding sessions. Since he is no longer on lipids and barely on any other nutrients through his IV, he is that much closer to coming home.
As long as the attending physician thinks he is doing well enough, today should really be his last day taking the antibiotics. This was the one thing that has kept us here this long. We should hear the update from the physician later this evening. We don't know exactly when he will be seen. He is usually one of the last in the NICU to be seen, because he is one of the healthiest.
Oliver has been on and off oxygen. Last night, they took him off to see how he would do at room air while sleeping. He failed, so they had to put him back on today. But that alone will not keep him from coming home. If he still needs oxygen, they will send us home with the equipment and monitors for the O2. The pediatrician would then come visit us after a certain period of time and do the room air test again. Once he passes that, he won't need to be on oxygen anymore.
Best case scenario is that he would be able to come home some time tomorrow. We are hoping and praying for good news tonight!
