Oliver is such a silly little boy. It amazes me how much his little personality grows each day. He does some funny things that make us laugh. Recently, he has decided that it is fun to crawl while dragging his forehead on the floor. It makes for wonderful red marks on his face. He also likes crawling underneath our coffee table, which is a task even for a little guy like him. He pushes anything and everything that he can - the computer chair, the dining chairs, the rolling chalkboard at church, and even his play pen. He is such a wiggler. He can't sit still for 30 seconds without something to preoccupy him. Like most kids his age, he can't get enough of kitchen drawers and cabinets. The other day, I caught him crawling into the drawer below the oven... I shouldn't encourage him by taking pictures of it, but it was so cute!
We always look for things to do with the family. There are a lot of Halloween activities, so Saturday we went to Willard Bay for their Fright Lights. It was fun, because it was something Oliver could actually enjoy. He really liked looking at all of the pretty lights, though he couldn't enjoy the kiddie laser tag or hay bale maze (maybe next year when he can walk).
Because Oliver was in the NICU for the first 8 days of his life and had oxygen after that, we didn't end up having the time to get newborn photos taken of him, and I definitely regret it. Now that he is turning one, I want to get some family photos with him. I've been looking for professional photographers, but we just don't have that kind of money right now, so I think I'm going to do some research on good photo spots. We might even get some new clothes to really get some photos we are happy with. We definitely need some family photos to put in our apartment.
Oliver's birthday is in two weeks! I'm excited for him to hit that big milestone. We just wrapped his presents today. I have the Happy Birthday Banner (something to keep for years to come, hopefully) and some party favors (just for fun) to work on. Other than that, I just have to get the food and drinks and make the cakes.
In other news, my hair straightener of four years died on me this weekend. It has been good to me, but I'm glad to get a new one. We got a good deal for one, and I'm hoping that getting a new one will encourage me to do my hair more often. The deal also came with a curling wand. I don't usually curl my hair, because I have naturally wavy hair, but I'm going to have to try it out.
Jan is going to be flying to California soon to get some hours in a multi-engine plane. He is starting the long journeys to earn the 120 hours he needs to earn his commercial license. I'm so ready for him to start flying more. The more he flies, the sooner he'll have enough hours to get a job as a pilot. Hopefully it will only take two years after he has earned all his licenses to get the 1200 hours he would need to get into Philippine Airlines. Ready. Set. Go!
