The Apartment and the Weekend!

So this weekend, we cleaned, organized, and decorated the apartment a little bit more. We still have a little bit more decorating to do, especially the living room walls, but for the most part, our apartment is complete. Here are some pictures, so you can see what we've done with the place.

This is our dining room table. We have some espresso colored  shelves above the table. We were planning on putting our little souvenir sailboat from Catalina Island in the largest one, but it doesn't fit! We haven't quite figured out what else to put inside because they are actually pretty small. I still think it will look pretty plain even if we finish putting something inside. We will think of something though.
This is our entertainment set. It came with our fully furnished apartment. The coloring of the wood doesn't match what we are planning on having in our future homes. We like the darker woods, which is why all the furniture we are buying is espresso-colored. I don't mind having a little mis-match in the wood for only a few months. We still have a lot of wedding stuff on the bottom shelf that we aren't sure what to do with yet. Some of the decorations on this are going to be put on our console table once we are able to purchase it.

This is the living room. It looks really bare right now. We can't put curtains up, because it would put holes in the walls. We are planning on hanging some pictures, but we have to figure out what we want and go buy it! It doesn't look as bare in real-life because the entertainment center and dining table are in the same area.

This is our bedroom. We bought the espresso colored end tables. The Noordas gave us a painting of the St. George temple that is above our bed. It is aboslutely beautiful. The desk and dresser are on the other end of the bedroom, but they aren't anything special to look at.

And lastly is our walk-in closet. I'm very grateful for it! We don't really have any storage space in this apartment except for under the bed, so it is nice to have a big closet, especially since both Jan and I have a lot of clothes and shoes to store.

As for the rest of the weekend, we chilled for the most part. While Jan worked on some of the thank-you cards, I folded the laundry. We went to Oedipus the King, which was a play going on at BYU. We got there late, and we didn't want to walk in the middle of the stage or in front of the video camera, so we ended up standing for most of it :( It was really great though. We were glad we weren't sitting in the front row because of all the spitting we saw...

On Sunday, we went to our new family ward for the first time. It was fun seeing little kids in church again. One man got up for testimony meeting with his little boy, who thought the microphone was a lollipop. He kept lunging for it, and the first time, he actually got his mouth around it! One woman told me not to get offended, because people in the ward aren't very welcoming. I had a few people introduce themselves and chat with me, though. Maybe we will get a fun calling together like teaching a primary class. I know Jan would love that!
