The Honeymoon

Jan-Michael and I are finally home! We left for Las Vegas on Thursday the 3rd, and we are excited to finally get back into our normal routine. I'm mostly glad to be done travelling - who wouldn't after driving to and from Provo, Vegas, and St. George as well as between Augusta and Boston and flying between Long Beach, Boston, and back to Vegas? The time changes killed us!

It was fun though! We spent our honeymoon on a cruise. We left out of Long Beach on Monday the 7th, and Jan was seasick that first night. Because of that, though, he became buddy-buddy with our servers at the cruise dining room.

On the second day, we got off at Catalina Island. It was absolutely beautiful! Jan has decided that he wants to live there someday. I wouldn't mind either because it is warm and green! Everyone on the island drove around in golf carts, and the houses were tiny but cute. We walked up to the botanical garden and memorial that they had in Avalon. We got a lot of great pictures.

On the third day, we stopped in Ensenada, Mexico. We booked a trip for the "Taste of Mexico" excursion. We left the boat much earlier than the trip was scheduled for, so we just lounged around looking at the near-by souvenirs. I tried on just about every pair of sunglasses - and of course, I was not happy with any of them. We then took a tour of the city. They had just ended their Mardi Gras celebration the day before, so the streets were littered with confetti and there was a lot of traffic because of the clean-up. After our little tour, we went to the restaurant Mango Mango for our authentic Mexican cooking lesson. We learned to make salsa, guacamole, enchiladas, and tostadas. It was delicious and a lot of fun.

The last day, we were at sea, travelling back to Long Beach. We ate, played mini golf, ate, watched a hairy chest contest, and slept. It was glorious.

After the cruise, we stayed all day at a hotel and watched TV because our flight to Boston didn't leave until 9pm. Unfortunately, our luggage kept us from exploring. We traveled all night to Boston and didn't get much sleep. That in combination with the 3 hour time difference exhausted us!

When we got to Maine, we showered, went to a seafood restaurant for lunch, and went to the open house. There were a lot more people there than I was expecting. It was good to see everyone from home. Instead of being polite with feeding the cake to each other, we shoved it in each other's faces. We took lots of pictures and talked with a lot of people. It was fun, and my mom did a great job preparing for it. We watched the BYU basketball team against San Diego State and played games at my aunt and uncles. We went to church the next day, ate and played games at my mom's house, and went to my dad's for our traditional Mexican dinner.

On Monday the 14th, we spent all day flying from Boston to Vegas and then driving from Vegas to Provo. We didn't get in until about 10:30pm last night. I went straight to bed, because I wasn't feeling well and we had to wake up early for work this morning. Now we are trying to get back into our normal daily routine. It will probably take us a while to get used to the time change again, but we are excited to be back and start our life together!

  2. I vote that "Antique Kiss" is my favorite! It just emanates the love that you have for each other. Try to remember as you go through married life that this life is a gift, and everything that we enjoy, while we are here, belongs to God. I pray that you and Jan-Michael have a wonderful life together and in any times of trouble you just look at the "Antique" Kiss and remember the love you felt for each other, at that special time, and all will be right. All my love, Aunt Robin
